Chelsea have made contact for manager in recent days – Blues with initial and early approach

Bologna manager Thiago Motta is now a candidate to take charge of Chelsea, according to claims from Italy.

Journalist Eleonora Trotta writes that there’s been a ‘survey’ from the Blues to bring the coach to Stamford Bridge, with contact being made in recent days.

It’s made clear, however, that Chelsea haven’t advanced in talks for now, as their initial approach was ‘not deepened’.

Trotta points out that Motta may already have another job in his plans, as he’s had an agreement with Juventus ‘for months’ now.

As the journalist answered a question about it, she also ended up saying Chelsea’s approach ‘did not move forward’, making it clearer that the Blues may have given up already or that Motta is one of many possibilities.

Motta’s positive season at Bologna has seen him linked to many clubs recently, and AC Milan were also said to be interested.

Chelsea, meanwhile, stand 9th in the Premier League, despite recent signs of a recovery. That makes it clear that Mauricio Pochettino’s job is on the line, although if they can keep progressing, even if slowly, then he’s got a good chance of a longer spell.
