Rangers manager Philippe Clement has hinted to Romania’s Fanatik that there are discussions within the club over the possibility of bringing Ianis Hagi back to Ibrox in January.
Rangers allowed the attacking midfielder to join Deportivo Alavés on a loan deal in the last window when Michael Beale was in charge at Ibrox.
Beale was shown the exit door in October and Rangers appointed the Belgian as his successor the same month.
Clement has been speaking to Fanatik and the majority of the interview is focused on how both Belgium and Romania could do at the Euros next summer. These two countries are both in Group E.
Responding to that, he said: “There are things that I share only in discussions with the player, not with the press. Excuse me, but it’s not my style to talk in public about transfers, rumours and other collateral matters.”
Fanatik further pressed the coach whether there’s a chance for the Romania international to return to Rangers next month.
“Don’t mind! I understand your skill and curiosity, but these are details we only discuss inside the club. I don’t like to debate specific issues when it comes to my players. We’ll see what happens, because this is not just a decision for me, but also for the club,” Clement explained.
The Rangers owned player has mainly been used as a substitute at Alavés. He has two goals and an assist to his name from 17 matches this season.
