Noni Madueke ‘seems to have ended up sidetracked’ at Chelsea after Mauricio Pochettino left him out of the Carabao Cup win over Brighton and Hove Albion.

That’s according to Voetbal International, who cover the player again and Mauricio Pochettino’s recent refusal to use him.

They explain how Chelsea beat Brighton last night without Madueke in the squad, his latest omission from the group at the beginning of this season.

After the game Pochettino was asked about why that was the case and confirmed the player was not injured but his absence was down to his personal choice.

“An injury? No, Noni has no injury. I left him out of the match selection. It was a conscious choice,” he is quoted as saying when asked about the winger.

VI have now covered the situation and say the player ‘seems to have ended up sidetracked’ in London since his move in January.

He’s only played 124 official minutes for Chelsea this season, bagging a goal against AFC Wimbledon in the second round of the League Cup but nothing more.

The winger has had a ‘turbulent first year’ at the club, arriving in January and establishing himself early on as one of the ‘standouts’ in the team.

That’s changed since Pochettino’s arrival, with the Argentine having a different idea to his predecessors that means the cards ‘seem to have been shuffled differently’ for the winger.

What that means moving forwards remains to be seen but his absence is now being noted inside and outside of England, which means this is unlikely to be the last we’ll hear of him.
