On June 6th, Tottenham Hotspur appointed Ange Postecoglou as their new manager and they’ve enjoyed a good start to this season under his orders, managing three wins from four games. Spurs are second in the table, two points behind leaders Manchester City.
Last season, the north London club finished eighth and missed out on qualifying for European competition. Postecoglou has quickly helped to change things around at Tottenham and Dejan Kulusevski is delighted with it all.
“I’m glad it’s going well. The team is good. We’ve got a really good coach and we’ve played well and scored a lot of goals,” he told Fotbollskanalen.
“So, it’s clear that it’s great fun. You should enjoy it when things are going well.”
When responding to that, the 23-year-old winger talked about the former Celtic coach’s impact on him and his teammates.
“Yes, actually. We had a tough time at the end of last season. He has come in with really positive energy and it has gone very quickly. Of course, we are all a little surprised. But he’s really good,” Kulusevski explained.
“We are a young team and everyone wants to play this way. I’m not saying that what we did before was completely wrong, but it was something completely different. I think it’s easier to come to training every day and know that you should play with the ball, that you should attack and run forward and not backwards. So, it is clear that all of us players have done everything possible to listen as much as possible.”
Tottenham have done well despite losing their star striker, Harry Kane, to Bayern Munich in August. The England international scored 30 league goals last season, and the former Juventus man has admitted “we thought he would stay”.
