Despite Jürgen Klopp making it clear he wasn’t interested in selling Mohamed Salah this summer, the threat of a Saudi club breaking the bank for the Egypt international remains.

That’s why it’s only normal for the Reds to look at potential replacements for their star, and they are eyeing two up at Barcelona.

This is what Sport are reporting on Wednesday, claiming that Liverpool have ‘asked’ the La Liga side about both Ansu Fati and Abde Ezzalzouli.

It’s said Barcelona have ‘received communication of the interest’ from Anfield for their two players, and are ‘waiting’ to see if the Reds will come forward.

Liverpool have merely ‘asked about the situation’ of the two players, with Fati making it clear he wants to play minutes, while it was reported on Wednesday that Abde also wants out despite talks last week indicating he could stay in Catalonia.

Should Salah leave, the Premier League side would only be interested in signing one of them, not both, and it is ‘no longer ruled out’ in Barcelona that one of the two could be gone by Friday.

The La Liga side have a bit of a situation to deal with here, and while other teams are keen on Fati, there’s still no guarantee the right offer arrives.

However, it seems that if Salah is sold, then Liverpool could provide them with some certainty of money coming in and a player who wants to leave walking out the exit door.

Which one would it be, though? That’s the real question.
