Celta Vigo are hoping Crystal Palace will agree to let Vicente Guaita terminate his contract at the club so he can sign for the Spanish side on a free transfer.
That’s according to Atlántico, who say Guaita is ‘trying to resolve’ his departure from Crystal Palace after making it clear he wants out.
The veteran goalkeeper has been linked with a departure throughout this summer and recently refused to play for Roy Hodgson’s side in an attempt to force a move away.
That’s certainly the case for Celta Vigo, with Atlántico reporting that they’re keen on getting the Crystal Palace goalkeeper but very much on their terms.
Manager Rafa Benitez is keen to sign a veteran goalkeeper, but Guaita would only be signed if he arrives on a free transfer, in both terms of paying Crystal Palace and the player, and he signs a deal that will be ‘of short duration’.
In other words, they’ll take him so long as he arrives on a free, takes a low contract offer and agrees to depart sooner rather than later.
It doesn’t sound all that appealing for the goalkeeper, to be honest, but he’s negotiating a departure from Crystal Palace either way and has made it clear he wants out and to join Vigo.
