It appears that Manchester United’s dilly-dallying when it comes to the transfer of Sofyan Amrabat could backfire, as the Premier League club work on selling players before moving for him.
This is what Sportmediaset hint at on Wednesday, relayed by Firenze Viola, with it claimed that the Morocco international would ‘prefer Juventus’ to a move to Old Trafford.
The fact the offer from Manchester United is ‘taking its time to arrive’ will have something to do with that, and if he doesn’t get the chance to go to England, then he would ‘happily remain in Serie A’.
Not the best of news for fans of the Old Trafford side, especially after claims on Tuesday that there could be a move soon once they got Harry Maguire and a midfielder off their books.
Manchester United have been linked for quite some time with Amrabat and there has been a lot of hope that an offer will be made, but Alfredo Pedullà told Passione Fiorentina on Twitch, relayed by Labaro Viola, that patience was needed.
This is what Pedullà was clear on when asked about the future of Amrabat and a possible transfer to Old Trafford.
He said: “United are closing a couple of sales to advance the bid for Amrabat, who is waiting for the Red Devils. If United sell Van de Beek, Fred, Maguire or McTominay, it’s possible that they can collect that €50-60m that will define the transfer of Amrabat.”
He then explained that while Juventus may also be keen, they have other issues to deal with for now, and aren’t really a threat to Manchester United.
Pedullà then continued: “I only know that Ten Hag had Onana as a priority, and they got him. They did the same with Højlund and now, the priorities are Amrabat and Todibo for the defence. What I know for sure is that Amrabat has the agreement on the wages. Now, they have to sell. If they can get €60m, they will invest €30-35m for the Moroccan midfielder.”
