On Tuesday, L’Equipe stated AS Monaco are not ready to give up their pursuit of Folarin Balogun despite Arsenal rejecting a €30m bid for the striker.

The Ligue 1 side are looking for a new No.9 after Breel Embolo suffered a serious knee injury earlier this month. This is where the 22-year-old would fit in.

RMC Sport explain the steps taken by Monaco to sign the Arsenal player, who starred during his loan spell at Reims last season, managing 22 goals and three assists from 39 games.

It’s said the principality side have made an offer close to €40m which was turned down by Mikel Arteta’s side. The report doesn’t mention if this was their first bid or new proposal.

Either way, Monaco aren’t ready to give up and will return with an improved offer to sign the USA international. There’s no mention of Arsenal’s demands or the fee Monaco will offer in the next bid.

RMC Sport add Monaco have an ‘agreement in principle’ with the attacker.  They will have to be wary of the competition from Inter Milan as the Serie A side are also keen to sign Balogun this summer.
