PSV Eindhoven ‘will continue to go for’ Tottenham defender Davinson Sánchez this summer, using the money from the sale of Xavi Simons to get him.
That’s according to journalist Rik Elfrink, who says the limited funds from Simons departure could help facilitate Sánchez’s arrival.
Sánchez was linked with a return to the Netherlands with PSV earlier this month, with separate reports in the country stating that they had showed an interest in him and were eager to get a deal over the line.
The Dutch club are undergoing something of a rebuild this summer after disappointing last season and the arrival of manager Peter Bosz as Ruud van Nistelrooy’s replacement.
The belief in England has also been that he will be moved on by Tottenham this summer, with Ange Postecoglou managing his own rebuild after arriving from Celtic.
PSV have not made their move as yet, though, with Sánchez instead the subject of bids from Russia and interest from Turkey.
Elfrink, though, insists that the interest remains and believes they will continue to try and sign him from Tottenham in the coming weeks.
“I think that PSV will continue to go for Davinson Sánchez,” he told the Heet van de Herdgang podcast.
“Peter Bosz knows him of course and I also think that they will use the proceeds of Xavi Simons, however limited they are, to make his arrival possible. At least that’s what I heard until recently.
“According to the agent of an Israeli player, an offer was also made, but it was too low. PSV is therefore looking at alternatives.”
