Arsenal are not the only side in the race for RB Leipzig defender Mohamed Simakan, with Manchester United also keen.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say the defender ‘could ignite the next transfer window’ as both sides are ‘seduced’ by his profile.
With three goals and eight assists in 34 games in all competitions since the start of the season, the ‘versatile’ defender has ‘stirred up the greed’ of several European clubs.
According to FM’s information, Arsenal and Manchester United are keen on the player, with each interested in different reasons.
Manchester United, meanwhile, are talking to Kim Min-jae but are also targeting the RB Leipzig man as alternatives to the likes of Victor Lindelöf and Luke Shaw. Simakan ‘would relieve’ Erik ten Hag of the pressures he’s worked with in defence this season.
England’s topflight is seen as the perfect destination for him to shine in and definitively convince Didier Deschamps to add him to his France side.
At the moment neither side seem to be pushing for a deal to happen but Simakan ‘seems to perfectly match’ the Premier League according to FM.
Neither Arsenal or Manchester United have made definitive moves as yet and need to ‘convince the management’ at Leipzig into a sale, although they will not make any gifts or let the player go without a fight, particularly as he is tied down to a deal until 2027.
