Everton and West Ham may have work on their hands to convince Werder Bremen striker what Niclas Füllkrug into a move this summer.
That’s according to DeichStube, who say that the striker does not want to move to player in the ‘lower region of the Premier League’.
Füllkrug has been in excellent form for Werder Bremen this season, with a tally of 15 goals and six assists to his name in 27 games in all competitions so far.
He also recently made a splash on the international stage, bagging three goals in two games for Germany during the recent international break.
Those numbers have earned him plenty of attention, particularly in the Premier League, where Everton and West Ham, who are both in desperate need of a regular goal scorer, have been credited with an interest.
There have also been reports that Füllkrug has told Bremen he wants to move on in the summer, increasing speculation about his future in the process.
That is backed up by comments they’ve gotten from Bremen chief Clemens Fritz, who insists that the latest rumours are just noise from outside the club.
“It’s brought in from outside,” he said.
“‘Fülle’ didn’t give us a signal that he wanted to leave in the summer. He’s fully focused on the final games to achieve his goals and ours. We have agreed that we will sit down afterwards and the future discuss. We are all very relaxed there.”
According to the website, Füllkrug does indeed want to consider his options and his decision to move to a bigger agency, who are exploring the market for him, is an indication of that.
However, the fact remains that Bremen want a ‘fat transfer fee’ for their man to help alleviate club debts of around €40m and are aiming for €20m or more.
That would be easily achievable for clubs like Everton and West Ham but they don’t suit the player, who isn’t interested in a move to Torino because they’re tenth in Serie A and so certainly doesn’t want to play ‘in the lower region of the Premier League’.
