Willy Caballero has renewed his deal with Southampton to extend his stay until the end of next season.
That’s according to journalist Cesar Luis Merlo, who says the veteran has decided to remain tied to Southampton after his current deal was set to come to an end.
Caballero joined the Saints on a free transfer in December of last year, having been out of contract after leaving Chelsea in July.
He was initially brought in to provide competition to Fraser Forster and Alex McCarthy but started the first two games after he arrived, a 3-0 loss to Arsenal and a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.

He failed to make a single Premier League appearance after that but played in both the fourth round and fifth rounds of the FA Cup in February and March.
It had been believed he would leave Southampton at the end of his deal, but with Forster leaving on a free transfer to Tottenham, it appears the Saints have elected to hand the Argentine a year extension instead.
