Leeds United are still ‘following’ Standard Liege midfielder Nicolas Raskin but face competition from the likes of Genk and Club Brugge for his signature.
That’s according to La Dernière Heure, who say the 21-year-old ‘could leave in the next few weeks’ amid the interest in him.
Back in April, we covered a report that stated Leeds had ‘shown interest’ in Raskin, who is in the final year of his current deal with the Belgian side.
He’s yet to sign an extension or show any interest in doing so, and thus they will be forced to sell this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer next year.
That means there is increasing interest in him, and La Dernière Heure cover those looking at a deal today.
They explain that while there is interest from inside Belgium, with both Genk and Brugge ‘targeting’ the 21-year-old, the chances of him moving elsewhere in the country are ‘slim’.
That’s because he would prefer to move abroad, and fortunately, he has suitors with three foreign clubs, including Lille and Leeds, ‘following’ him closely.
At this stage, Standard Liege are yet to receive any concrete offers for the midfielder, who is valued at just over €5m at this moment in time.
But he is held ‘in high esteem’ by those in charge at Elland Road and, after following his development ‘very closely’ this year, they may be ready to make their move.
