Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes is about to renew his contract with the club, according to reports from the Portuguese media.
Newspaper O Jogo today writes the player is ‘very close’ to an understanding with the Red Devils for an extension which will run until 2027.
It’s said the contacts between Manchester United’s board and agent Miguel Pinho have been frequent and ‘intensified’ lately, and its now ‘almost certain’ the deal will soon be signed.
O Jogo reports that Fernandes will now make between €14m and €15m per season. That will put him on the same level as Paul Pogba, and still far from Cristiano Ronaldo, who earns €20m per year.
It’s said that besides blocking the interest from other clubs, Manchester United’s intention is to make Bruno Fernandes ‘a reference at the club’.
Meanwhile, O Jogo claims the midfielder ‘continues to believe’ that the Red Devils will soon be back on fighting for big things and trusts the project. That’s why he’s accepting the extension.
Bruno Fernandes was signed by Manchester United on a €63m deal in January 2020. Since then, he has 49 goals and 38 assists in 117 appearances for the club.
