Last August, Wesley Fofana suffered a fractured fibula during Leicester City’s pre-season tie against Villarreal. The defender has been on the sidelines since then, but that has not stopped him from being linked to other clubs.
Back in November, the 21-year-old admitted he dreams of joining a club like Chelsea, Real Madrid or Manchester United. He has been linked to these three clubs over the course of the season.
Los Blancos were the latest to be named as a suitor, as he was on the front page of Marca on February 22nd.
According to L’Equipe, the former Saint-Étienne man has returned to full training for the last three weeks. They also provide an update on the efforts made by the Premier League side to tie him down to a long-term deal.
Their title reads: ‘Towards an extension of Wesley Fofana at Leicester City’. Within the report, it’s claimed the player has been in talks with the English club’s leaders for several weeks and ‘they could succeed quickly’.
Brendan Rodgers’ side face Rennes in the UEFA Conference League tie next week and Fofana could be in contention to face the Ligue 1 side. Before that fixture, Leicester ‘could announce the extension of his contract’.
If all goes well, Fofana should sign a new deal that will keep him at Leicester until 2027.
