Earlier on Thursday, we covered claims made by journalist Fabrice Hawkins that Leicester City star Wesley Fofana’s camp have held talks with Chelsea.

The defender has also admitted the Blues are among his dream clubs in the Premier League.

Foot Mercato, down their end, have a report, titled: ‘Chelsea target Wesley Fofana’, where they point out the 20-year-old is still recovering from the injury he suffered in the pre-season, but that’s not stopped him from attracting interest from elsewhere.

It’s claimed the west London club ‘seem quite charmed’ with the centre-back and are ‘still interested’ in him.

Having previously made contacts, the report explains the Champions League winners have ‘reconnected’ with Fofana’s entourage.

Manchester United get a mention, but regarding the Red Devils, it’s said they are ‘keeping an eye on’ the entire situation.

The Old Trafford club invested big money [€93m] to take Harry Maguire from the Foxes in 2019 and Foot Mercato state it is ‘necessary’ for Fofana’s suitors to pay ‘a similar fee’ to convince Leicester of parting ways with the former Saint-Etienne starlet.

A ‘major new operation’ can emerge, where Chelsea ‘have a head start’ after already making contacts with Fofana’s camp.
