French international Steve Mandanda signed for Crystal Palace at the start of the season on a free transfer from Marseille, but reports in France now suggest he could be set for an early return.
According to L’Equipe, Mandanda met with Marseille’s sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta after his knee operation in December.
However, there were no talks about a possible return, but L’Equipe believe the door is open for Marseille should they want to re-sign him.
It’s been reported Mandanda, like Payet, feels nostalgic about the club, and the former Marseille captain could return if they want him to.
Crystal Palace recently sacked Alan Pardew, and are lying just above the relegation zone in the standings.
It wouldn’t be really surprising if Mandanda wants to switch clubs, but it’s a bit unlikely that’s going to happen before the summer.
The 31-year-old is current recovering from a knee injury, and is expected to be out for another couple of weeks.
