A move to West Ham is ‘no longer out of the question’ for midfielder Hans Vanaken, courtesy of their success this season.

The Hammers were keen on the Club Brugge midfielder back in 2020 and made efforts to secure his signature, with the player confirming a bid and his father admitting they gave it ‘serious thought’.

A move never happened as Vanaken looked for something a little more glamorous than what was on offer at the London Stadium.

West Ham’s interest has not gone away, though, and they were once again linked this summer when it was stated they were ‘keeping an eye on the situation’.

Vanaken once again stayed in Belgium and has been the better for it, with eight goals and four assists to his name in 24 games so far.

West Ham, meanwhile, elected to sign Nikola Vlasic, but the Croatian has struggled to settle in London or earn himself a significant role in David Moyes’ plans.

That could reignite their interest in Vanaken, and Voetbal 24 say that if it does, they could have a chance of getting their man.

They explain that Vanaken rejected their advances in the past because he wanted to go to a club that ‘plays for prizes’.

Things have changed for West Ham since then, though, with them recently securing passage in the Europa League and sitting fourth in the Premier League.

They’re a far more attractive prospect, and a transfer is ‘no longer out of the question’ should it be offered.

Now there’s no mention that it will be, or if whether West Ham are even still interested, just that if they are, they now have a far better chance of convincing Vanaken of the move than they once did.
