When it was announced that Manchester United were going to be signing Cristiano Ronaldo, questions marks immediately emerged regarding the future of Edinson Cavani.
The Uruguay International had been in fine form the previous season, and while it’s understandable that an opportunity to sign one of the best players of all time was difficult to pass up, it will have come as a blow to the striker.
He’s got on with his business professionally since the arrival of Ronaldo, and his time has been limited, although that didn’t stop him from being called up by his national team for the current international break.
Speaking to the local media this afternoon, Cavani was asked about his situation at Manchester United, and while he could have lashed out, he replied in typical professional fashion.
Cavani has only made four appearances under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season, and has only started one of those, which was this weekend’s clash against Everton that ended in a 1-1 draw.
He only lasted 57 minutes, however, when he was replaced by Cristiano Ronaldo, who wasn’t able to help his team pick up the three points for once.
