West Ham defender Kurt Zouma says he was ‘seduced’ by the club this summer and the ‘great progress’ they’re making under David Moyes.

Zouma made the decision to move across London, electing to leave Chelsea in a £31.5m deal for the Hammers.

The move brought about an end to a seven-year spell at Stamford Bridge, with Zouma having initially joined the Blues for £13.14m in January 2014.

The Frenchman was never a regular for Chelsea, instead spending time out on loan at the likes of Stoke and Everton over the years.

He was a part of Chelsea’s squad last season and regularly featured at the beginning of the campaign under Frank Lampard.

The manager was replaced by Thomas Tuchel at the end of January, and that pretty much saw an end to Zouma’s time in the first team as he managed just six starts in the Premier League between January and the end of the season.

He did feature in the FA Cup but was left on the bench for the final, with a similar situation in the Champions League.

That suggested he was not a part of Tuchel’s plans for this season, and he says it was that which sparked the move to West Ham.

“My transfer to West Ham? What seduced me was the club. I think it’s a good club in great progress,” Le 10 Sport report him saying to Canal+.

“They did an exceptional job last year to qualify for the Europa League. And here, we will have a difficult group; we can do something this year.

“I spoke with the manager, who helped me a lot and convinced me, who showed me that he wanted me. He thinks I will bring something extra to the team because of my experience.

“I’ve been in England for a long time, and I’m in the national team, so it’s true that I can bring all my defensive and offensive quality.

“I needed to play more. Obviously, I was in a team that was doing really well. Coming here allowed me to compete more to play. This is a club that wants to progress and grow. And I want to be part of this project.”
