Aston Villa striker Wesley Moraes would be a ‘dream’ signing for Anderlecht this summer if they need to replace Manchester City’s Lukas Nmecha.

That’s according to Voetbal Nieuws, who present the Villa man as an ‘ideal solution’ for the Belgian club to look at if they need a new forward.

Nmecha is currently on loan with Anderlecht from Manchester City and has been impressing, with 14 league goals to his name so far.

They are keen to keep him on a permanent basis, and reports indicate they will do everything they can to sort out a deal with Manchester City, who are keen to sell.

They may be able to find richer suitors elsewhere, though, and that will leave Anderlecht looking for a player who can replace the 22-year-old.

That man could be Wesley, say Voetbal Nieuws, who present him among a list of potential options for the club.

They say it is ‘highly doubtful’ he would make the move to Anderlecht given his association with Club Brugge, where he was ‘moved to tears’ on his departure.

However, he’s had nothing but bad luck since arriving at Villa, with a long-term injury, which he’s only just recently returned from, meaning he now finds himself behind Ollie Watkins in the pecking order.

While Aston Villa ‘still seem to believe’ in Wesley, it may be better for him to move, and ‘instead of simply accepting their loss’, a loan spell could be the ‘ideal solution’ for all parties.

That is where Anderlecht would come in as manager Vincent Kompany could use his contacts in England while Head of Sports Peter Verbeke knows the player from his time at Brugges, where he was Recruitment Coordinator.

In terms of replacing Nmecha, Wesley ‘looks just like’ the Manchester City man in style and appearance and so would be an ideal replacement.

His playstyle certainly fits the bill, with the Aston Villa man described as ‘a great powerhouse’ who is both strong with his back to goal, good with the ball at his feet and has an eye for an assist.

In theory, he is a ‘dream’ signing for RSCA, although it does remain to be seen to what extent his injury has hindered his ‘qualities’ and whether those in Brussels are willing to take a risk on him.

The idea is certainly there, though, and if Nmecha does depart, this could be one to keep an eye on.
