Turkish journalist Berkay Tokgoz claims that Fenerbahce are set to sign Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil and the player will be joining his new club very soon. It’s also claimed he’s set to wear the No.23 jersey for the Yellow Canaries.
Ozil has been heavily linked with a move to the Turkish giants continually, whom he previously said he’s a big fan of, and recent claims from the Turkish media suggested the 32-year-old will join the club in the January transfer window.
There were some reputable claims from Turkey last month which stated Fenerbahce president Ali Koc went to London to meet Ozil in person, and it’s claimed he’s now getting very close to completing a deal for the Arsenal player. That will probably help him in the upcoming presidential elections, which will be held this summer.
In addition to Tokgoz’s claims, a lot of trusted sources from the Turkish media are claiming the same. For example, one ‘ITK’ Twitter account which was spot on with almost every transfer Fenerbahce made over the summer, has claimed that the deal is now highly likely to be completed. It’s worth noting that this account was first to break former PAOK player Dimitris Pelkas’ surprising move to Fenerbahce on deadline day last summer.
Ozil has been left out of Arsenal’s Premier League and Europa League squads after falling out of favour with Mikel Arteta, and now it’s claimed he will be joining Fenerbahce as the Turkish giants are looking to win their first league title since 2014.
