Mateusz Bogusz’s failure to make his way into the Leeds United squad last season convinced him to go out on loan in the summer.
Earlier in September, the 19-year-old publicly revealed his desire to be loaned out by Marcelo Bielsa’s side and also confirmed to have several options to choose from.
On the deadline day of the last window, Leeds allowed the attacking midfielder to join second division Spanish side UD Logroñés on a season-long loan deal.
The Poland U21 international has made 10 appearances in the Segunda División this season and has a goal and an assist to his name.
WP SportoweFakty had an opportunity to interview the Leeds owned player and Bogusz revealed why he decided against joining a club in Poland.
Apart from Logroñés, there were other clubs in Spain and Italy who wanted to take him on a temporary transfer. Bogusz is delighted the decision taken by the Premier League side.
“I decided that if there is a possibility, then I want to leave England, get to know something new, go to a new country,” Bogusz explained.
“There were offers from Italy and Spain, and I immediately set out to go to one of these two countries. Logroñés wasn’t the only Spanish team interested in me, there were other teams, but Leeds didn’t give the green light on loan for a long time. They only agreed to Logroñés and now I can say that they were 100% right.”
As a part of the agreement between Leeds and Logroñés, the Whites retain an option to cut short Bogusz’s stay in January.
On that topic, the player said: “No, it wouldn’t make sense. It will be best when I finish the season in Spain.”
