Adnan Januzaj’s father Abedin has always played a big role in his son’s career, and it was no surprise that he accompanied the Sunderland player during a long awaited interview with Belgian newspaper HLN.
Januzaj’s career got off to a great start at Manchester United, but the departure of David Moyes saw Januzaj’s form drop and he subsequently got less opportunities. Unable to impress much when he did get opportunities, it was a worrying spiral for the youngster.
A disastrous loan move to Borussia Dortmund was cut short, and it’s no surprise that this time Januzaj has moved within England, for a full season loan at Sunderland, back with David Moyes.
Abedin appeared to be as much part of the interview as his Sunderland player son, and pointed out how committed he makes sure Januzaj is: “I help Adnan in his sporting choices, and I make sure he lives as he should. As long as I can see it, you will see no piercings or tattoos on my son, no crazy hairstyles. He’s never drank a drop of alcohol, and in the evening he stays inside.”
Hermit Adnan seems to be quite happy with the situation, although the interviewer did try to probe whether this could all make him timid, but was quickly shut down on that one.
