Liverpool’s Lucas Leiva posted a picture of his trip to Milan on Instagram recently, and that’s caused a stir in the Italian media.
The Brazilian has a contract until next summer at the Merseyside club, when he’ll depart unless Jurgen Klopp pushes the club to offer a contract extension.
The 29-year-old has managed just two starts this season, both as a centre-back, and therefore doesn’t appear to be a of great importance to Klopp.
Italian website Calcio News 24 reveal the details of Lucas’ trip to Milan. It’s reported Lucas and his wife visited the Cathedral, before heading out for shopping and had sushi for dinner at Finger’s Garden.
Calcio News 24 say the Milan trip ‘could be a clue’ with regards to Lucas’ future at the club. Both Inter and AC Milan are reportedly looking for a midfielder and could try to sign Lucas in the January transfer window.
Lucas was reportedly heading to Turkey during the summer transfer window, before Klopp blocked his move due to injuries to a number of other players, and it remains to be seen if he is willing to part ways in January.
On one level, it looks like the Italian media going well over the top by making the link, but given the player’s contract situation, it could be considered wise to check out different cities.
