The Spanish media continues to bring updates on Valencia’s chase for Watford midfielder Étienne Capoue.
This morning, newspaper Marca wrote that the player has agreed to join the Spanish side, where he’d take a pay-cut to receive €2.8m per season.
The deal was only pending an agreement between the clubs. It was said that Valencia wanted Capoue for free, but the possibility was rejected by Watford.
Now according to Tribuna Deportiva (via AS), Anil Murthy and Gino Pozzo have been calling each other all day, and the amount for the move is currently being discussed.
Even though Capoue initially asked to go for free, it’s said Watford are demanding between €3m and €5m for the move.
Valencia are now willing to pay for the transfer, and it’s said the ‘many options are being negotiated’, so it seems they’re still not sure if he’s moving on a temporary or permanent transfer.
Capoue is now said to be waiting for the clubs to agree a fee so he can fly to Spain and sign for the La Liga side.
