Manchester City have ‘opened negotiations’ with French side Angers over a move for highly-rated youngster Rayan Ait-Nouri.

That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who say City have ‘accelerated’ their efforts to secure the 18-year-old left-back but may face competition from Wolves.

They explain that Ait-Nouri is one of the ‘most interesting’ youngsters on the international scene, having broken through at the Ligue 1 side and established himself as a regular in the first-team.

That has already attracted interest from around Europe – we’ve covered reports of interest from Wolves and Crystal Palace – and now Manchester City are on his tail.

They were first linked two years ago but, according to TMW, are now pushing to secure his signature ahead of the competition.

They report that talks are already underway and they are trying to ‘close negotiations’ to bring him to the Eithad and then send him out to Spain, presumably Girona, so he can continue his development.

TMW say Wolves are also ‘on the player’s trail’ as they believe current left-back Ruben Vinagre is set to leave Molineux this summer and they are on the hunt for a replacement.

Unlike with City, it isn’t made clear if they’ve opened negotiations as yet, but should they do so they will have to negotiate hard with Angers.

Ait-Nouri recently signed a new deal at the club that ties him there until 2023, and while that hasn’t ‘dampened’ the attention around him, it has ‘given strength’ to the French side in terms of negotiating power.
