On December 20th, we carried a report from Bild, who explained that Hertha Berlin are looking at Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka.
Later that day, Fussball Transfers explained the midfielder already has an agreement with the Bundesliga side and the two clubs need to agree a deal for the transfer to take shape.
These claims have been also been confirmed by the player’s agent, José Noguera.
“Look, I will say it frankly and honestly: We are in agreement with Hertha BSC and would like to go to Berlin. So, we said it to Arsenal’s boss Raul Sanllehi and sports director Edu Gaspar – as well as the new coach Mikel Arteta,” Noguera told Blick.ch.
Blick claims Hertha have already offered €25m to the Gunners for the Swiss international.
Xhaka’s exit from the Emirates may be difficult after Mikel Arteta publicly revealed how much he liked him and how he tried to sign the midfielder when he was at Manchester City.
However, the report adds, in private, the new Arsenal manager told the 27-year-old that he could leave the club next summer. Xhaka was ‘particularly angry’ because of this and his agent explained “that’s the way it is”.
Clearly Arteta’s alleged conflicting claims haven’t pleased Xhaka and he now dreams of joining Hertha in the winter market.
