Erling Braut Håland continues to shine for Red Bull Salzburg and the striker has already netted 20 goals and managed five assists in 13 appearances this season, which includes a brace in his side’s 3-2 defeat to Napoli on Wednesday.
The Norway international’s dazzling form has caught the attention of top European clubs and Manchester United are believed to be one of those interested in the 19-year-old.
Earlier this month, AS reported the frontman will be a ‘primary target’ for the Red Devils next summer, if his compatriot Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still at Old Trafford
His father, Alf-Inge Håland, spoke to Norway’s VG and was asked when he realised his son is capable of what he’s doing at Salzburg.
“It’s hard to predict that. But that was when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer started using him, and he delivered. And then Ole said that ‘Erling is special’,” Alf-Inge said.
Håland Sr played for United’s rivals, Manchester City and Leeds United. Last month, Alf-Inge admitted his past association with the latter two won’t be a concern, if Erling can join Manchester United.
Solskjaer’s presence would give United an edge over other suitors to sign the player.
