Emiliano Marcondes’ performances for Danish side FC Nordsjælland during the 2016/17 season drew attention from Brentford.
In the summer of 2017, the Championship side signed a pre-contract with the attacking midfielder to join them in January 2018.
Last campaign, the 24-year-old was restricted to just 13 appearances in the league as injuries forced him to spend time away from the pitch. He made four appearances this term, but was loaned out to FC Midtjylland two days ago.
Midtjylland director of football Svend Graversen has expressed his delight after acquiring the Brentford player’s services on a temporary deal.
“We’re really, really excited to have the opportunity. We know he is a good player, he has shown it in the Super League,” Graversen told BT.
Graversen has seen the attacker impress for Nordsjælland in the past and even though he struggled during his 18 months spell at Brentford, the Midtjylland chief believes the loan spell could help Marcondes regain his old form.
“He has played many matches for Brentford, but had no continuity, partly because of injuries that have prevented him from making the final breakthrough,” he explained.
“We are quite confident we can help him. If he hits the level we know he has, then we have a really good player who can make a big difference in our team.”
Marcondes’ contract at Brentford runs down in 2021 and the English club could sell the player next summer if he fails to impress at Midtjylland.
