While Aitor Karanka’s interest in managing Huddersfield Town is well known, there is another Spanish manager being considered for the role left vacant following Jan Siewert’s sacking, according to AS: José Ángel Ziganda Lakuntza, more commonly known as Cuco Ziganda.
The former Athletic Bilbao manager, who has been without a job since leaving the Basque club back in June 2018, is reportedly on the Terriers’ list of candidates who can hopefully turn the situation around following a rather disastrous first few games back in the Championship.
According to AS, Ziganda had been living in England up until April, where he was ‘preparing to manage’ on this side of the Channel, wanting to try ‘new adventures’ after his time at Bilbao.
It’s explained Huddersfield would be a ‘major first challenge’ in his English career, and the Spanish outlet explain there are ‘more names’ besides those of Karanka and Ziganda being considered, and the club’s board plan to ‘meet with them and then make a decision’.
