Among those expected to leave Huddersfield Town after the Terriers’ relegation back down to the Championship, Zanka, for now, has yet to find himself a new club.
We’ve covered a number of stories regarding the Danish centre-back, with the latest coming from Turkey, where Fenerbahce were reportedly keen on his services.
The stories was that their manager, Ersun Yanal, wanted to partner Zanka and Simon Kjaer together at the heart of his defence next season, bidding €3.5m for the Huddersfield player.
The last update came on July 3rd, and now we have another one, but this time from the player’s home country thanks to Ekstra Bladet.
The newspaper explain the defender is an ‘undesirable’ in Jan Siewert’s plans and has been left out of their upcoming preseason training camp.
It’s made clear the player has ‘no future’ at Huddersfield, and he could find some help from Turkey.
However, and it’s a big one, the latest offer hasn’t come from Fenerbahce but from Istanbul Basaksehir.
According to Ekstra Bladet’s information, an offer of €2m has arrived, which both the player and the Terriers are ‘chewing on’.
Furthermore, Basaksehir are reportedly ready to offer the 29-year-old a three to four year deal, which is a big commitment for a defender his age, but it seems they are intent on making it happen.
What’s interesting is that this offer is €1.5m less than the reported one from Fenerbahce, which isn’t even mentioned by Ekstra Bladet.
Why that is we don’t know, but you would think €3.5m would be far more interesting to Huddersfield than €2m.
Either way, it seems Turkey could be Zanka’s next stop.
