With all the flirting in the press, calling Manchester United a ‘beautiful’ club, you could almost think Thomas Meunier is trying to send a message to the Red Devils.
It’s no secret Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad needs a better right-back than Ashley Young, and while the veteran remains in the squad, that doesn’t mean those within the Carrington offices are oblivious to the fact he will need to be replaced at some point.
Already having Diogo Dalot is certainly useful, but there’s a feeling the Portuguese could use someone (not the former Aston Villa winger) else in front of him to learn from, like Thomas Meunier.
We covered in detail Arsenal’s interest in the Paris Saint-Germain player earlier on Friday, and Paris United have come out with an article of their own, mostly corroborating what had already been said about the Gunners.
However, towards the end, the website touch upon the Red Devils’ interest, claiming the Premier League side are ‘keeping a watchful eye’ on the defender’s situation.
Seeing as Manchester United’s transfer policy these days appears to be the classic ‘look but don’t touch’ most people abide to in a museum, this isn’t exactly surprising, but it does go a long way to show, if true, that they aren’t completely blind to their needs.
Whether they act on this, however, is a whole different matter altogether.
