Last week, AS reported that Manchester City are willing to pay €70m to sign Rodri and that they’ve made an approach to the player.

On May 22nd, we carried a report from Sport, who explained that Atletico Madrid are keen on retaining the former Villarreal man at all costs and Diego Simeone is also backing the decision.

Thursday’s edition of AS also says Simeone and Andrea Berta are keen on retaining him, which is why they’ve made a new proposal to keep him at the club.

Los Rojiblancos fear the power of Pep Guaridola’s conviction over the signing, coupled with his style of play, could make Manchester City an attractive destination for the Spaniard.

The domestic treble winners’ approach and Guardiola’s philosophy has now made the player even more confused and Atletico fear the midfielder will agree to join the club.

Atletico’s chief Miguel Ángel Gil has made an ‘extraordinary proposal’ to Rodri and Atletico are hoping he snubs advances from the English side and commits his future at the Wanda by accepting terms on an extension.

Rodri has not made a decision yet, but it looks like Atletico are eagerly awaiting it.
