Having arrived at Arsenal from French club Arles in 2015, Ismaël Bennacer left the Gunners and made a switch to Empoli in 2017.
In his debut season with the Italian club, the midfielder was one of the key figures in helping his side top the Serie B table and achieve promotion to the top flight club.
This term, the 21-year-old has made 30 appearances in Serie A which includes 25 starts. His displays have caught the attention of Lyon and Napoli, with the latter even submitting a proposal of €16m to seal the Frenchman’s services.
According to Le10 Sport, when the player left the Emirates Stadium for Empoli, the north London club inserted a buyback clause and if they wish to, they can bring Bennacer back to the club without facing any competition.
However, the French outlet claims the Premier League club are yet to show ‘concrete interest’ in Bennacer, but they could take a closer look at him following his impressive development at Empoli.
Should Arsenal decide to re-sign Bennacer, the report doesn’t say what the fee will be.
Le10 Sport report this as an exclusive, but it has been mentioned before, with Bennacer himself even hinting at it last year.
