Former Newcastle United Jermaine Jenas has rated Sir Bobby Robson as the best manager he played under. Robson signed Jenas from Nottingham Forest in 2002.
The former England international said the day Robson rang him to say he wanted to sign him will always stay with him as he was a manger you would do anything for.
“Italia 90 was the reason I wanted to be a footballer and I’ll never forgot the day he rang to say he wanted to sign me. You felt like you’d do anything for him,” said Jenas on his former Newcastle boss.
Jenas spent three seasons at Newcastle United, making over 100 Premier League appearances for the club. In his debut season for the North East side Jena was named the PFA Young Player of the Year, but his performances started to drop when Graeme Souness replaced Robson in 2004.
