A month ago, we covered a report from Portuguese newspaper Record which said Manchester City would take Tiago Dantas from Benfica.
Things went quiet for a while, but now the outlet is back with an update saying the youngster is indeed very close to signing for Pep Guardiola’s side.
According to Record, Dantas has travelled to England along with his agent, and is now discussing the ‘final matters’ of a move.
As the youngster’s deal with Benfica expires in the summer, they are still deciding if City will pay a fee to get him now or if he signs a pre-contract with the English side and returns to Lisbon for a few months.
Record writes that Dantas has always liked the option of moving to the Premier League, meaning that as Benfica didn’t offer a new deal and City were one of the first sides to make an offer, he was quick to say yes.
