After a lot of huffing and puffing, Liverpool have managed to qualify for the next stage of the Champions League.

Joining Paris Saint-Germain from their group in the first knockout round, the Reds’ win over Napoli saw the Italian side relegated to the Europa League as they were unable to find the back of the net at Anfield.

Over on the Liverpool side, “The Best” for Jürgen Klopp’s side with a 7.5/10 was inevitably the goalscorer, Mohamed Salah, as Gazzetta dello Sport believe he’s chosen the ‘right moment to return to form’ for his club after his hat trick against Bournemouth at the weekend.

Virgil Van Dijk got the same grade, described as a ‘veritable wall’, while James Milner, Andrew Robertson and the German manager, for his tactical choices, all got 7s.

Down the lower end of the scale, Sadio Mané was handed the unfortunate award of “The Worst” (5/10), as his chance wasting didn’t go unnoticed as the Senegalese star could have made the score far more comfortable.

Close behind with 5.5/10 was Roberto Firmino, who ‘isn’t going through the best of times’.

Over at Corriere dello Sport, the ruling is the same, as are the grades for their “The Best” (Salah, 7.5) and “The Worst” (Mané, 5).

Spanish newspaper AS gave Sadio Mané a – mark, not feeling his performance worthy of an actual rating.
