While the likes of Manchester City and Tottenham have been linked in the past, the latest claim regarding Tanguy Ndombélé was one about Everton being interested.
We were dubious at the time, mostly because the Toffees aren’t exactly a step up (at least when it comes to European competitions) for the player, and the fee demanded by Lyon would be a tad excessive, even for Farhad Moshiri.
Well, it seems things have taken a turn for the worse for Everton, and every single club interested in the young midfielder, as Jean-Michel Aulas isn’t ready to sell, or if he is, it won’t be cheap.
In a general assembly where he discussed all things Lyon related, the club’s president was asked about Ndombele’s future, whom he said ‘specialised sites valued at €50m’.
Transfermarkt, for example, have him at £31.5m, but that’s nowhere near what Aulas would ask for him.
He is quoted by Le Progrès as having said: “We’ve already received offers far superior [to €50m]. We can imagine that if we were willing to sell, we could reach an amount similar to that of Paul Pogba’s transfer.”
Seeing as the World Cup winner swapped Juventus for Manchester United for over €100m, that should give you an indication of what Aulas’ stance is.
Having only signed him permanently last season, next summer might be a bit too soon for an exit, seeing as he recently signed a new deal keeping him at the club until 2023.
First, we’re guessing Nabil Fékir will be sold next summer, and only then will Lyon deal with Ndombele’s future
