Nicolo Barella, strongly linked with a move to either Manchester United and Liverpool, had already made it clear he wasn’t planning on moving away from Cagliari this year, but he’s had to reiterate it once again.
That being said, it’s not like he minds being linked to some of the big clubs. In fact, he actually quite enjoys it, most recently being scouted by Arsenal.
Asked about his valuation of €50m, which has been set by his club, the midfielder seemed unfazed about the situation.
He said, relayed by Calciomercato: “I’m not the one who sorts out the transfers. It’s the agents, presidents and clubs who do that. I only think about Cagliari and to stay up in the league. We’ll see about the rest. The interest from big clubs is pleasing, and makes me proud. It means I’m doing the right things.”
José Mourinho’s side have been sniffing around the 23-year-old since January, and Barella even hinted he turned them down in the summer, wanting to remain at a club where he played every week for the time being.
As for Liverpool, some believe Jürgen Klopp would be the ideal manager to help him grow as a footballer, while others reckon the Reds have the advantage because the midfielder is a huge fan of Lebron James, who owns shares in the Premier League side.
Arsenal’s interest has only appeared of late, with Gazzetta dello Sport claiming the Gunners had ‘noted down his qualities’ in their latest trip to watch him, clearly impressed with what they saw.
