Everything changes very quickly in football, and Chelsea’s hunt for a new goalkeeper following Thibaut Courtois’ not so mysterious disappearance has sent the European media in overdrive.
First came claims from Mundo Deportivo the Blues could trigger Jan Oblak’s release clause, which was then followed by AS reporting the same about Athletic Bilbao’s Kepa Arrizabalaga.
El Correo, Bilbao’s local media, then stated that, as of Tuesday morning, Chelsea had yet to make contact with the goalkeeper, but weren’t ruling anything out.
Well, fast forward a few hours, and now the situation has changed.
Talks between the player and the Premier League side are said to be ‘open’, but no decision has been made yet, as he’s merely listening to what Chelsea have to offer for the time being.
Furthermore, El Correo explain the Blues moved on Kepa after Jan Oblak kindly told them he wasn’t interested in a move to London.
With such little time left in the transfer window, Chelsea are going to have to move very quickly, and prove very convincing.
