Chelsea signed Olivier Giroud from Arsenal in January after Alvaro Morata and Michy Batshuayi struggled to impress for the Blues in the first half of the last season.
The French striker scored five goals and registered one assist in 17 appearances in all competitions, which included only nine starts.
Maurizio Sarri replaced Antonio Conte as the west London club’s new manager and the World Cup winner’s future at Stamford Bridge was uncertain as the Daily Mirror reports the former Napoli coach is not too keen on the 31-year-old.
Giroud gave a lengthy interview to Dauphiné Libéré this week, in which he discussed his future. He categorically ruled out the possibility of returning to France in the near future and insisted that his future now lies at Chelsea.
“I’ve heard a lot of things in the media… In the near future, my goal is not to return to France. For now, I’m a Chelsea player,” Giroud said.
