Goalkeeper Leopold Wahlstedt has admitted he is looking to rebuild his career back in Denmark at Aarhus GF, after his miserable spell at Blackburn Rovers.
The goalkeeper has been speaking to Tipsbladet about his career after returning to Denmark in a €1m deal at the beginning of July.
The 25-year-old only joined Blackburn Rovers last year in a €1m move from Odd last and made 25 appearances in all competitions for Rovers last season.
He conceded 42 goals in those games though, keeping just four clean sheets, and spent the end of the season sat on the bench, managing just two 90 minutes between January 20th and the end of the campaign.
It was a miserable end to a short spell in England for the goalkeeper, who would have been hoping to prove himself in England after his time in Denmark following a switch from Sweden in 2019.
Things are yet to get going as he’s started life at Aarhus back on the bench, but he insists that’s just a short-term thing as he looks to bounce back properly from his year at Blackburn.
“I have tried these situations before in my career, where I did not play from the start,” he said.
“It was the same in Odd and in Blackburn. So, you have to be mentally strong. The best thing to do is just work as hard as possible so that you are in the best possible shape when the chance comes. I have to be the best version of myself.
“I am really happy to be in AGF. There are good facilities and people in the coaching staff and squad. Of course I want to play. That’s why I’m here. But all I can do is work hard and show the coach that I’m ready.”
