West Ham United haven’t forgotten about FC Metz’s Alpha Touré, after making an approach in the winter market.

In January, Sport Witness covered claims from France and Senegal of West Ham’s initial €7m bid. The Premier League side were planning to return with an improved bid, but a move didn’t go through.

A month later, the defensive midfielder said he was happy that West Ham showed interest and is open to a future move to England.

Nuno Espírito Santo’s side continue to have him on their agenda for the summer.

West Ham most likely next destination

Earlier this month, Sport Witness covered claims from Senegal that Alpha Touré reached an agreement in principle with West Ham United. The same source stated the deal could be made official this week, but that’s unlikely to happen.

Africa Foot also report the two parties agreed a deal and then share more updates on this case.

Barring a surprise twist or a last-minute development, the Senegalese ‘will continue his career’ with West Ham. The 20-year-old has always dreamed of playing in England and the Hammers can help him fulfil it.

The outlet got in touch with an unnamed individual close to this operation. When asked if there’s an agreement reached with the London club, the source said: “Yes, of course…”

On the potential move, the same source explained: “We’re working on it, and I can’t say any more.”

It’s likely Africa Foot obtained this information from his representatives/entourage.

Although there’s expectation for the FC Metz midfielder to join West Ham, the report state other clubs are keen on signing Touré and talks are ongoing.

As things stand, Nuno Espírito Santo’s side appears to be his next destination. There’s no mention of the fee Metz will receive from this operation.

Contract, value and stats

Both the earlier report and Africa Foot make no mention of whether the move will still go through in case of West Ham United’s relegation. The Hammmers are 18th, two points behind 17th placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Alpha Touré’s contract is until 2028, and Transfermarkt value him at €5m. His relatives are taking care of his interest and future.

The midfielder played 1,602 minutes from 30 league matches for FC Metz this season.
