It could have been a lot worse, but Tottenham’s Antonio Conte will have surely wanted to head back to England with more than a 1-0 defeat from their first leg against Milan in the Champions League.
Travelling to San Siro, the London club headed into the clash off the back of a 4-1 loss to Leicester City and wanted to make things right.
Tottenham didn’t manage that, and looked bereft of ideas up front despite controlling the game for chunks, having to rely on set-pieces to provide any threat.
Meanwhile, there is one man who stood out from a rather poor bunch, and that was Cristian Romero, whom Gazzetta dello Sport label ‘the worst’ in their rankings.
He is given a 4.5/10 by the Italian newspaper, which is the worst rating of all the players on the pitch, after he was out jumped by Theo Hernandez in the build up for Brahim Diaz’s goal, and could have potentially been sent off for some rather forceful tackling later on.
This is something Conte will likely want eradicated altogether ahead of the next fixtures, as Tottenham need to get back on track, as Spurs are now without a win in two games, and will now ready themselves for back to back matches against local opposition at home, facing West Ham and Chelsea on February 19th and February 26th.
