Manchester City’s hopes of signing Brazilian youngster Wesley from Flamengo have been handed a major boost as the Brazilian club want to sell before the Club World Cup this summer.

That’s according to O Globo, who report that Flamengo want a quick sale of their highly rated youngsters before the Club World Cup to then attack the market themselves.

The newspaper reports that Flamengo are expecting a formal offer between €40-50m to arrive for Wesley, which they will then use to reinforce their squad.

They say that clubs in England and Spain are in the running for the full-back, but do not name anyone specifically. None of the interested parties have made a formal proposal yet. If they do make a good enough offer, Wesley can leave immediately, before June.

Flamengo want a sale quickly, before the Club World Cup. The special transfer window opened for clubs competing in that competition runs from June 2nd to June 10th, so they want a sale before then.

This could suit Manchester City, who have been named as strong favourites for Wesley over the last two weeks.

Indeed, reports in Brazil have stated that Manchester City want him in their squad for the Club World Cup, with Pep Guardiola making him a priority target. If that is the case, then it would seem it shouldn’t take too much work to get a deal over the line with Flamengo.
