Wolverhampton Wanderers showed keen interest in Sporting’s Hidemasa Morita in January and even made an approach to sign him.
Earlier this month, we covered claims from Portugal which stated Wolves decided against making advances after finding out the Lions want to extend his contract beyond 2026.
It was suggested Wolves could return for the 29-year-old if Sporting fail to tie him down to a new contract.
Wednesday’s edition of A Bola has a report on the Wolves target and his plans for the future.
The Japan international ‘is leaving’ Sporting and informed them of his intention to not renew the contract. Therefore, the Portuguese club will make him available in the summer window, to avoid losing him for free in 2026.
Sporting invested €3.5m to buy the midfielder in 2022 and aim to collect €10m from his sale at the end of this season.
Morita wants to take the next step and wishes to make a switch to the Premier League. The English club can sign the player and whether they will return for him remains to be seen.
Wolves refused to offer €10m in January and could try to lower the price, if they are still keen in the summer.
