Last summer, Wolverhampton Wanderers showed interest in Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Nico Elvedi.
On July 8th, Bild reported the Premier League side have made a second attempt to sign the defender. It was also said Wolves already negotiated personal terms with him last summer.
Wetterauer Zeitung claim Gary O’Neil’s side were the 27-year-old’s ‘potential buyer’ a year ago and also this summer.
The Switzerland international can earn more if he were to join Wolves, but the report says the financial aspect won’t be decisive for him to make a decision on his future.
Elvedi has already started pre-season training with the Bundesliga side, which let the German media have a chat with him on Sunday. During that, he left the door open to leaving Gladbach.
“I’m at Gladbach now, that’s the current situation. As I said before, if something comes up, I’ll look at it, but I’m happy here. Of course, after nine years you start to think about whether something new would be good. It has to be something interesting that makes sense,” he said, relayed by Wetterauer Zeitung.
“The transfer window is open until August 31st, something can always happen before then.”
Wolves weren’t able to get the deal over the line a year ago and it remains to be seen if they can sign him this summer, after Elvedi opened the door for a transfer.
