Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly the latest Premier League club to join the race for São Paulo defender Lucas Beraldo.
According to Goal Brasil, Wolves are interested in the signing, and despite not having placed a bid yet, they have shown signs they could offer something around €7m.
São Paulo, however, consider that amount to be too little, and would only let him go for an offer they can’t refuse.
Goal says that Wolves ‘continue to evaluate’ the situation and ‘don’t rule out’ placing an official bid in the summer window.
Since São Paulo only own 60% of the player’s rights, they currently negotiate to buy 20% from his former club XV de Piracicaba. They made an attempt by offering €2m, but that wasn’t accepted. The other 20% belong to the player himself.
That also makes the situation more difficult, as in case of this €7m bid, the Tricolor would only get €4.2m.
In the past few months, we’ve seen Berlado also getting linked to the likes of Watford, Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion. So that’s something Wolves also need to worry about.
