Leeds United’s return to the Premier League puts the Yorkshire club in a different financial scenario this summer and inevitably completely changes their outlook in the window.
Targets will be different than they otherwise would have been, and selling clubs will be eyeing a Premier League premium when selling to the Whites.
That appears to be the case with Troy Parrott, and Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf report his current club AZ have set a high price for the former Tottenham Hotspur player, a price Leeds United simply don’t want to pay.
The 23-year-old signed for AZ last summer, in a permanent move from Spurs. He’d previously been on loan at Excelsior in the Netherlands. The Dublin born striker has since scored 20 goals in 46 games and caught the attention of Leeds United.
De Telegraaf report AZ are asking for €30m, having bought Parrott for €4m from Tottenham. Leeds United directors are said to ‘find this amount too much’ and won’t be paying up.
That’s a fair stance to take, with €30m looking somewhat inflated.
